The History of Duck Tape
People often argue with me that it is duct tape not duck tape and that Duck Tape is just a brand. So I would like to be clear about this because it was, indeed, originally duck tape.
During World War II, they needed a waterproof tape that could be used to keep all moisture out of ammunition cases. Because of it's job, people referred to it as duck tape. After a time, more uses for duck tape were discovered and it began to be used for almost everything that the military could think of. The war was over and the housing industry was in its prime. It was then that some dratted person figured out that duck tape was great for heating ducts, etc. and they changed the name to duct tape just so that they could confuse people.
- Duck Brand is manufactured by Manco, a Henkel Group Company
- Duck tape was originally manufactured by Johnson and Johnson Permacel Division
- Duck tape was originally green, not silver
- Duck tape and duct tape are still the "Ultimate Power Tools"
- Duck tape and duct tape can fix anything
