Valero

For those of you how don't speak Jaimie...
Valero looks open but all the pumps have signs that say Out of Order

Thursday, November 29

Valero

Where Elm Street crossed on Valley
There was this little place
A place we called Valero
And it was in the race
The race of all gas stations
To get the lowest price
And Valero's remained the same
Winning not once, but thrice
That is what we believed
And that is what we thought
Until that fateful day
When there, some gas we sought
Four signs read "Out of Order"
All the pumps were closed down
Until they open up again
We shall all wear a frown

Drawing

Drawing is a really good way to express yourself and many people enjoy it and think it as their personal favorite activity. There are many things you can draw like from fish to fencers(sword fighters for those of you who don't know) and from yous to theyes. Some people enjoy drawing with crayons and some like pen or... markers, pencils, the black thingy, colored pencils, pastels, and other writing utensils. People also like to draw lots of different things from people to designs and from computers to imagery places. One person may draw lots of different things. Drawing is very very interesting and is done around the world and is a great way to express yourself!

Uncle Sam

Almost everybody has heard of or seen Uncle Sam, but how many know who he really was?

Sam Wilson supplied meat for the US military stationed in New York in the War of 1812. Each container of meat was stamped with a "US" for the United States. However, when a federal inspector was checking the meat, he was informed otherwise. A smart-alec employee told him that the "US" actually stood for Uncle Sam, the nickname given to Sam Wilson. The word spread and not long after, everybody knew that the "US" was for Uncle Sam. It was in the early 1960s that Congress named Sam Wilson as the official Uncle Sam.

Thanks for reading this and remember: We want you to spread the word of gaspricesweekly.blogspot.com

Umbrellas

Umbrellas usually are big and round. They have a stick coming out of the bottom and then a handle. They come in many colors such as purple and potadoted. They have a big point on the top that can be the length of 1 foot, 1,000 feet, 1 inch, and the sky. Sometimes these points are used to sit on. That is why water is in a cup! The handles are comfortable so that they can be put down on the ground and the ground doesn't get hurt! Umbrellas can keep you dry too! Everyone should understand that umbrellas are one of the best inventions made yet!

The History of Duck Tape

People often argue with me that it is duct tape not duck tape and that Duck Tape is just a brand. So I would like to be clear about this because it was, indeed, originally duck tape.

During World War II, they needed a waterproof tape that could be used to keep all moisture out of ammunition cases. Because of it's job, people referred to it as duck tape. After a time, more uses for duck tape were discovered and it began to be used for almost everything that the military could think of. The war was over and the housing industry was in its prime. It was then that some dratted person figured out that duck tape was great for heating ducts, etc. and they changed the name to duct tape just so that they could confuse people.

  • Duck Brand is manufactured by Manco, a Henkel Group Company
  • Duck tape was originally manufactured by Johnson and Johnson Permacel Division
  • Duck tape was originally green, not silver
  • Duck tape and duct tape are still the "Ultimate Power Tools"
  • Duck tape and duct tape can fix anything
So you can call it duck tape or you can call it duct tape because, obviously, they are both correct.
